APPROACH AND COACHING SKILLS TRAINING FOR PATIENTS WITH DIABETES

“Approach to Patients with Diabetes and Coaching Skills Program” It is the first International Coach Federation Approved (ICF-CCE) Credited approved certificate program in Turkey. It is based on the basic principles and principles of professional evidence-based coaching practices, aiming at behavioral change in approaches to lifestyle with diabetes. The program model provides practical applications for people diagnosed with diabetes and their relatives to gain the necessary changes in life through coaching. Diabetes is a team sport that needs to be managed within a multidisciplinary system (doctor, nurse, dietician, psychologist, mentor coach). Studies show that classical approaches are not sufficient in chronic conditions such as diabetes and that a holistic (biopsychosocial) approach is required.

Health and illness are shaped by the complex interactions of biological, psychological and social variables, none of which can be categorized separately from the other. Managing the disease involves more than a diagnosis and treatment scheme. For this reason, when approaching patients, it is necessary to observe the effect of all factors and use methodologies with the center-oriented belief that “there is not only the disease; there is also the patient”. A program that wants to add value to their lives, that will give them the tools and practices that they will put in their pockets while accompanying them on their journey;
